Joe and Jess from Love Dem Apples at their market stall

Hey, we're Joe & Jess 👋

This one starts in America. Joe was over there when he tried a proper soft, chewy caramel apple for the first time, and came back a changed man. Turns out it's a classic North American treat, but here in NZ and Australia, caramel apples basically don't exist. The closest thing most of us grew up with is the rock-hard toffee apple, the kind that takes a run-up to bite into.

So Joe started making his own version, and opened a small storefront in Australia. About 8 years ago, we started dating, and I came on board. We've been growing it together ever since.

Tart Granny Smiths, hand-rolled caramel, cut into wedges instead of bitten whole. Nothing fancy, just something we'd actually want to eat ourselves.

And just so we're clear: these aren't toffee apples. No hard shell, no broken fillings. If it's your first time trying one, you're in for a pretty fun surprise.

We landed in New Zealand in November 2025, but we've actually been doing this for over 10 years in Australia. So while we're new faces around here, we've had a decade to figure out exactly what makes a really good caramel apple.
